David Duchovny, one of the show's stars, has told reporters he will receive a script next week. Duchovny and co-star Gillian Anderson are both "on board" to reprise their roles as alien-hunting special agents Mulder and Scully, he said. The script has been written by creator Chris Carter and writer Frank Spotnitz, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The pair co-wrote the first X Files movie, which came out almost a decade ago. The original thriller series was a hit when it ran from 1993-2002, winning three Golden Globes for best TV drama. Duchovny was speaking at the Television Critics Association press tour, promoting his new comedy Californication, in which he plays a novelist struggling with a complicated private life. |

| I liked the first one a lot, actually. I thought it fit in well with the rest of the show and was
just generally pretty solid the dialogue in this was terrible. the plot was so horrible. I don't even know where to begin. it was like they took a really terrible movie that had nothing to do with the X-Files and added Mulder and Scully making stupid references to stuff from the TV series to make all the stupid fans enjoy it. |

| what's your favorite season? i was always a casual fan until recently when i've been trying to watch through the series. i'm still on season one, though. i was surprised how good it was so early on (though sort of hit or miss) and how developed mulder and skully were from as early as the pilot. |

| definitely hit or miss in the beginning. a lot of the monster of the week episodes toward the
beginning are wicked good. hell, they're good all the way through, but I feel like they start off
really good, get kind of eh, then get REALLY REALLY good around seasons five and six, and then go
back to being just plain good and kind of hit or miss. the mythology stuff is all over the place. I kind of hate the stuff happening in seasons 5 and 6 in the mythology story though. so honestly, I don't think I could pick one season. for monster of the week episodes, I LOVE LOVE LOVE stuff in seasons five and six. for mythology stuff, I like seasons two and three a lot. |

| pretty bad. gillian has had some scary plastic surgery that makes her look like the moon. i thought more could have been done with the brunette agent who seemed to have a crush on mulder--you know, a sleezy near-kiss-affair that drags on for the whole movie until mulder realizes she's a plant. but instead they just killed her off with a horrible CGI fall and (true to x-form) never mentioned her again. basically, nothing happened. psychics? god? the guy who replaced howard hessman in head of the class? pass. |
