i meant to tell someone (jarred I think) that I saw $3 Yuenling pints at a happy hour in new york. I don't know what kinda deal this is but it seemed like a good one.

Danielle - 10/16/08, 10:42 am
I drank 2 dollar yuenglings on my birthday last year in Philly at the Mako's Retired Pirates Bar....another reason why I love PHILLY so much.
nip - 10/16/08, 10:43 am
| eh whatever, enjoy your 'amazing beer' at a hotel bar! leaves more beer for me to drink somewhere
else. Also is this from the florida or PA brewery because they taste different and the tampa one isn't as good. |
jared - 10/16/08, 10:43 am
I don't believe this.
flips - 10/16/08, 10:43 am
i am a beer wuss. I only like belgian whites and cheap piss. Would i like this?
nip - 10/16/08, 10:44 am
yess
ManxomeFoe - 10/16/08, 10:44 am
No on else is LOLing at the idea that the bar in the lobby of a fancy hotel is the first place in boston to have Pennslyvania's finest lager on tap? I mean, I love yuengling too, but GUYS GUYS.
jared - 10/16/08, 10:45 am
It's possible that someone could bring a keg back from NY with them...but a hotel bar? Also this will probably never be distributed in New England because of Sam Adams and Harpoon.
nip - 10/16/08, 10:48 am
jared - 2:45 pm (205.243.74.130) It's possible that someone could bring a keg back from NY with them...but a hotel bar? Also this will probably never be distributed in New England because of Sam Adams and Harpoon. also don't they not have the production to meet the potential demand?
grandmapucker - 10/16/08, 10:48 am
I don't get the excitement over Yuengling. I'll drink it if it's around, but I'm not going out looking for it.
davidlopan - 10/16/08, 10:49 am

I mean, I love yuengling too, but GUYS GUYS. i find it strange and disconcerting. i honestly wouldnt go just to have it i've had millions of these beers and know i will everytime i'm home....but maybe it'll catch on. if a regular bar went to PA and bought a bunch of kegs on a regular basis i bet their business would improve. |
nerdofhonor - 10/16/08, 10:51 am
i have been waiting for this day
ryantheterrible - 10/16/08, 10:51 am
WHITNEY YOU ARE IN TOWN AND ARE GONNA GET A BEER OVER HANGING WITH FRIENDS? Bob, i told Teddy to do that. he was like meh.
Dr_Peebz - 10/16/08, 10:52 am
grandmapucker - 2:48 pm (65.217.231.6) I don't get the excitement over Yuengling. I'll drink it if it's around, but I'm not going out looking for it. perhaps you would be more excited if you pronounced it YANGALANGA
Dr_Peebz - 10/16/08, 10:53 am
also I am putting "Yuengling On Tap" on every flyer I make from now on
jared - 10/16/08, 10:53 am
Nip that is probably also true.
davidlopan - 10/16/08, 10:54 am
see that would be perfect for them ryan ... seriously.
jared - 10/16/08, 10:57 am
I'm not too sure about the legality of that, though.
nip - 10/16/08, 10:59 am
Jared has a very good point.
davidlopan - 10/16/08, 10:59 am
you mean the schmegality?
grandmapucker - 10/16/08, 11:00 am

tommyvon - 10/16/08, 11:00 am
i found this out from a girl i know that works there, she posted on her facebook feed that its there. She said a co-worker went down to jersey and picked up some kegs. So i think its just a bunch of people that work together who are like "man wouldnt it be cool/funny if.." Personally i think its rad but i doubt it will be a regular thing.
grandmapucker - 10/16/08, 11:01 am
MORE LIKE DUNGLING
nip - 10/16/08, 11:01 am
also yeungling is anti-union if that stuff means anything to you.
davidlopan - 10/16/08, 11:01 am
what would be illegal about it?
PhilKenSebben - 10/16/08, 11:02 am
| I'm with nip. I'm not going out of my way to drink Yuengling. It's a great cheap beer to drink if
it's on tap wherever you currently are. You know what's worth going out of your way for? Harpoon's new IMAGE REMOVED - CLICK TO VIEWGlacial Harvest Wet Hop Ale</a>. That shit is mighty tasty. I had a glass at the brewery in Vermont last weekend. Definitely considering going down to the Boston brewery for a growler soon. |
PhilKenSebben - 10/16/08, 11:02 am
Herf. Glacial Harvest Wet Hop Ale
davidlopan - 10/16/08, 11:04 am
glacial harvest wet hop ale? hippy
nip - 10/16/08, 11:04 am
david: probably a lot of liquor taxes aren't being paid or some such thing. alcohol is a pretty regulated industry.
ryantheterrible - 10/16/08, 11:04 am
yeah that wet hop was pretty tasty, now that i think about it.
PhilKenSebben - 10/16/08, 11:05 am
What bars around town have the Harpoon 100 Barrel Series on tap? I think Cambridge Common does.
davidlopan - 10/16/08, 11:06 am
i'm part of the Beer Panthers nip we fight the man and such laws
brokenfuses - 10/16/08, 11:06 am
i saw a 22 oz. bottle last night... how much are they?
ryantheterrible - 10/16/08, 11:06 am
I know Obriens does, oddly enough.
nip - 10/16/08, 11:10 am
Phil: I think jacob wirths does
thedeathofsid - 10/16/08, 11:10 am
Obriens, really? Cool.
norstroms - 10/16/08, 11:14 am
FINALLY!!! God! How much demand does there have to be before they distribute into New England?
jared - 10/16/08, 11:16 am
Won't happen.
jared - 10/16/08, 11:17 am
The Lower Depths might have the Harpoon 100 barrel...because they have to carry 4 or 5 Harpoons drafts at a time.
cmusnyder - 10/16/08, 11:17 am
WHAT THE FUCK SERIOUSLY?
ryantheterrible - 10/16/08, 11:18 am
yeah just plain won't happen. i'm fine with that.
brendan - 10/16/08, 12:18 pm
also available at the cellar between harvard and central
jared - 10/16/08, 12:20 pm
How much?
icehockeyhair - 10/16/08, 12:51 pm
some of the Harpoon 100 barrels are pretty awesome. there was a scottish style ale awhile back that i couldn't get enough of.
mattlincoln - 10/16/08, 12:59 pm
Harpoon had some crazy stuff at the Craft Brew Fest last year. Also, agree on that Scottish; it was great.
tommyvon - 10/17/08, 9:49 am
so did anyone go?
tommyvon - 10/17/08, 12:26 pm
ps this was confirmed
Wes - 10/17/08, 12:27 pm
and just when you thought life sucked....
ryantheterrible - 10/17/08, 12:27 pm
and how much was it?
mattm - 10/17/08, 12:40 pm
where available, yuengling is usually the best cheap beer. way better than pbr and high life. but i doubt it's less than $4 at dante.
Dr_Peebz - 10/17/08, 12:41 pm
c'mon mattm it's an import
heisty - 10/17/08, 12:42 pm
this is crucial news. I have never seen it up past NY
cm - 10/17/08, 12:58 pm
serious question: is this something people like to TALK about on the internet or is it actually something that you will actively seek out after getting home from work one evening: "wow, rough day. after i relax for a few minutes im going to shower and finally try to find that one yuengling tap in greater boston."?
norstroms - 10/17/08, 1:00 pm
My mailbox is right next door to the Cellar, so I will be stopping by the Cellar and hopefully will be enjoying a pint of Yuengling within the hour, yes
cm - 10/17/08, 1:01 pm
well, see that makes sense
dace - 10/17/08, 1:05 pm
unless it's a buck or two less than the other beers there's not much of a reason to flip for this stuff - i remember going to a party in allston (the one where a bunch of kids stomped a drunken marine or something) with a 22oz that i picked up on my way home from NY that week and people were trying to buy it off of me.
heisty - 10/17/08, 1:09 pm
| CM: I don't think it's a real life "seek-and-imbibe" thing, but it's definitely worth
mentioning if you stumble across it. whooops, should have read the response. |
norstroms - 10/18/08, 6:08 am
brendan - 10/16/08 - 4:18 pm (205.135.136.10) also available at the cellar between harvard and central LIES I tested this theory and was disappointed in the result. The bartender laughed at the idea and whole bar stopped their conversations and stared at me as I meekly ordered a poor alternative. Notice to adventure-seekers: No Yuenling Here!
strunkles - 10/18/08, 6:34 am
I grew up in Pennsylvania, so I have a soft spot for Yuengling, but it's not actually good. If I wasn't from PA, I wouldn't care about it at all.
r_dorissa - 10/20/08, 10:02 am
| fyi: i went last week to check this out. they acted somewhat hush-hush about it, so play it cool if
go. it appeared on my bill like one of their other draft beers ($5) -- but I did have two... I don't know if they're charging $5 and gave me a break, of if it's $2.50. the $6 little burger & fries plate at the bar was delicious and worth the price! ~r |
brokenfuses - 10/20/08, 10:58 am
ace reporting job, r_dorissa
r_dorissa - 10/20/08, 11:43 am
thanks! i'll probably flesh it out tonight for another of my crappy posts on bostonist... but with a photo! ~r
emsterly - 10/20/08, 1:48 pm
I'm sooo going. Dante has great food and I'm lucky enough to know the bartender from way back, although he keeps bugging me to come visit and I haven't. Now I have Yuengling as an excuse, woo.
